New Brunswick Premier Blaine Higgs Needs To Call An Election

New Brunswick Premier Blaine Higgs needs to call an election

David Coon, Leader of the Green Party of New Brunswick wants an election

Higgs has been Premier since 2018 and his mandate is set to expire in 2022

David Coon, the Leader of the Green Party of New Brunswick, is calling on Premier Blaine Higgs to call an election.

Coon says that Higgs has lost the confidence of the people of New Brunswick and that an election is needed to give them a chance to choose a new government.

“The people of New Brunswick deserve a government that is working for them, not against them,” Coon said in a statement.

“Blaine Higgs has failed to deliver on his promises and has made life more difficult for people in our province. It’s time for a change.”

Coon’s call for an election comes after a series of controversies involving the Higgs government.

In recent months, the government has been criticized for its handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, its decision to cut funding to education, and its plan to sell off NB Power, the province’s public utility.

Higgs has defended his record, but his approval ratings have been declining in recent months.

A recent poll found that only 32% of New Brunswickers approve of the job Higgs is doing as Premier.

Coon says that the poll results show that Higgs has lost the confidence of the people of New Brunswick.

“It’s time for a change,” Coon said.

“The people of New Brunswick deserve a government that is working for them, not against them.”
