Nevada Republican Assemblywoman Michele Fiore has been removed from her committee assignments after she attended the rally that preceded the attack on the U.S. Capitol. Fiore, who is a vocal supporter of President Donald Trump, has made a number of controversial statements in the past, including calling for violence against Democrats.
In a statement, Assembly Speaker Jason Frierson said that Fiore's "continued inflammatory rhetoric and actions are not in line with the values of the Nevada Assembly." He added that Fiore's comments "have no place in our statehouse."
Fiore has been a vocal supporter of Trump since he first announced his candidacy for president in 2015. She has attended many of his rallies and has spoken at events on his behalf.
Fiore has also made a number of controversial statements in the past.
In 2019, she called for violence against Democrats, saying that they "need to be hung." She has also made a number of anti-Muslim comments and has compared the government to Nazi Germany.
Fiore's removal from her committee assignments is the latest in a series of actions taken against her by the Nevada Republican Party. In January, the party censured her for her comments about Democrats.
Fiore has said that she will continue to fight for what she believes in, even if it means losing her committee assignments.
She has also said that she is considering running for governor of Nevada in 2022.
