Nine million people have been urged to evacuate their homes as Japan prepares for one of the most intense typhoons the country has ever seen. The Regional Specialized Meteorological Center (RSMC) Tokyo - Typhoon Center is monitoring the strong typhoon, which is currently located south of Japan and moving northwest at a speed of 30 kilometers per hour.

The Japan Meteorological Agency warns that the typhoon is expected to make landfall in western or eastern Japan on August 14 or 15. Residents in these areas are being advised to take necessary precautions and prepare for potential flooding, landslides, and power outages.

According to the U.S. National Hurricane Center, the typhoon has maximum sustained winds of 130 mph, making it a Category 4 storm. The Joint Typhoon Warning Center has issued a warning that the typhoon may strengthen to a Category 5 storm before making landfall.

Evacuations and Preparations

Authorities have issued evacuation orders for residents in several regions of Japan, including Fukuoka, Hiroshima, and Yamaguchi. Evacuation centers have been set up in schools and community centers, and residents are being urged to follow instructions from local officials.
