Pilgrims Can Visit the Resting Place of the Blessed Teenager

Assisi, Italy - June 1, 2022

The tomb of Blessed Carlo Acutis, which remained covered for nearly two years, has now been opened for public veneration.

The tomb was officially reopened on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at the Basilica of San Francesco in Assisi, Italy. The reopening ceremony was presided over by Archbishop Domenico Sorrentino, Bishop of Assisi-Nocera Umbra-Gualdo Tadino.

Carlo Acutis was born in London on May 3, 1991, and died in Monza, Italy, on October 12, 2006, from leukemia. He was known for his devotion to the Eucharist and his use of technology to spread the Catholic faith.

Carlo was beatified by Pope Francis on October 10, 2020. His tomb remained covered for nearly two years while the basilica underwent renovations.

The tomb is now open to the public every day from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Visitors are asked to dress respectfully and to refrain from taking photos or videos inside the basilica.

Carlo Acutis is a role model for young people around the world. His life and witness show that it is possible to live a holy life in the modern world.
