City win 5-1 on aggregate after dominant display at the Etihad

Silva and Grealish score in the first half as City take control

Manchester City produced a dominant display to beat Real Madrid 4-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night, reaching the Champions League final with a 5-1 aggregate victory.

City were in control from the start and took the lead in the 37th minute when Bernardo Silva slotted home from close range. Gabriel Jesus doubled the lead just before half-time after Real had given the ball away.

The second half was more of the same as City continued to dominate possession and create chances. Grealish made it 3-0 in the 53rd minute with a fine finish, before Riyad Mahrez completed the scoring with a penalty in the 83rd minute.

City were deserved winners on the night and will now face either Liverpool or Villarreal in the final in Paris on May 28.
